Benefits & HR
Ballad Health Pharmacy offers discounts, free preventive meds and even delivery to the workplace for some facilities — including Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Have you checked out Ballad Health Pharmacy for your medication and pharmacy needs? If not, you may be missing out on some great team member benefits and discounts compared to other retail pharmacies.

If you have a health insurance plan through Ballad Health, you’re eligible for some great benefits and discounts at Ballad Health Pharmacy:

  • You save 10% on the cost of over-the-counter items compared to shopping at non-Ballad pharmacies.
  • You receive free preventive meds. The pharmacy offers a long list of preventive medications that are FREE to team members who have a Ballad Health insurance plan, with no deductible applied. The list includes medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma, COPD and much more – including inhalers such as Symbicort, Advair, Breo and Combivent; and brand-name drugs such as Eliquis, Farxiga, Effient, Xarelto and Premarin/Prempro. Click here to see the whole list on the HR Benefits page of the Ballad Health intranet. (NOTE: You must be on a Ballad Health network device to access the intranet.)
  • For team members with diabetes who are enrolled in Ballad Health’s Diabetes Program, the free medications include certain costly medications like insulin.
  • You can get delivery to the workplace in some areas. Delivery is now available at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Indian Path Community Hospital and Holston Valley Medical Center, as well as Johnson City Medical Center and surrounding offices in Johnson City.
  • Team members at Smyth County Community Hospital and Russell County Hospital can have their medications delivered by courier to their facility’s inpatient pharmacy.

Here’s a comment from a Ballad Health team member with diabetes who uses Ballad Health Pharmacy.

“I talk with a diabetes coach every quarter and she advised me to start using our pharmacy. It’s been great for me. I’m on some expensive medications, but I have not paid for a medication in two years. The refill process has been smooth as silk, the pharmacists have been terrific, and whenever I need extra equipment through the infusion center, it’s been easy and there have been no problems with billing. Overall, it has been really convenient for me; there’s no standing in line at Walmart or other pharmacies for me.”

Recommended for physicians and their patients

For physicians across Ballad Health, take note that Ballad Health Pharmacy offers infusion, DME and compounding services, and can connect patients to the MAP/PAP team to help them apply for medication assistance programs. The pharmacy also can provide immunizations.

When hospital inpatients use Ballad Health Pharmacy at discharge, they can have their medications in hand before they leave the hospital. The pharmacy can arrange prior authorizations, get nonformulary medications switched to something the patient’s insurance will cover, and if the patient can’t afford meds, Ballad Health Pharmacy can arrange for payments and case management help.
