Donate blood, thank a veteran: Marsh Regional teams up with Wreaths Across America

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Marsh Regional Blood Center is teaming up with the Tri-Cities Military Affairs Council for a blood drive event on Friday, Nov. 10, that will honor American heroes. National Wreaths Across America Day is a nationwide event that celebrates the lives of veterans with ceremonies held at more than 2,500 cemeteries across all 50 states, including Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City. Sponsorships and volunteer work are the backbone of the annual ceremony, which manages the laying of wreaths at every headstone in the cemetery. The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and the Healthcare Compliance Association designated Nov. 5-11, 2023, as Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week. This a great time to spotlight Ballad Health’s Compliance Program and ongoing compliance efforts. Code of Ethics Ballad Health is committed to acting with integrity and ethical behavior at all times. To outline some of the most important points of this commitment, a Code of Ethics was developed and approved by the Ballad Health Board. Team member childcare spots still available in Greeneville; availability opens to public next week

Team member registration spots are filling up at the Ballad Health Center for Early Learning in Greeneville! Team members have until Friday, Nov. 10, to register their child before enrollment is opened to the general public. To register, please email Amy Doran, corporate director of early childhood education, at amy.doran@balladhealth.org. There is a $50 registration fee. Team member registrations are not secured until $50 registration fee has been paid. The center is located on Tusculum University’s campus and has a tentative opening date in early December. Team members can learn more details, including tuition costs, during the enrollment process or by emailing Amy. The Greeneville center will offer childcare Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with extended pickup until 7:30 p.m. for team members who prearrange that option. Ballad Health hosting lung cancer screening event in Kingsport on Saturday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Ballad Health is partnering with the American Cancer Society to host a special lung cancer screening event in honor of National Lung Cancer Screening Day, to increase the community’s access to care. The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. until noon at the Holston Valley Medical Center Imaging Center, 103 W. Stone Drive in Kingsport, and will provide low-dose computed tomography scans (also called a low-dose CT scan, or LDCT) to individuals who might not have the opportunity to undergo tests during regular workdays. “Early detection is crucial in the fight against lung cancer, and we’re committed to making these screenings more accessible to a wider range of individuals,” said Tony Dotson, vice president of oncology for Ballad Health. “This event is an opportunity for community members to take a proactive approach to their health and potentially receive a lifesaving test by having lung cancer detected at…

Upgrade to latest Epic version set for Nov. 15

Ballad Health will undergo an Epic upgrade on Nov. 15 that will include a scheduled downtime as we apply the “Feb/May 2023” version of Epic. Here’s what you need to know as we approach the upgrade: The scheduled downtime will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 12:01 a.m., and will last approximately two hours. Epic will not be completely offline but will be placed in a Level 3 – Downtime “Read Only” status. Information can’t be entered into Epic during this downtime period. IT will notify users when the downtime period has ended through an IT All Clear notification. IT analysts will place a build freeze on non-emergency changes in Epic beginning Wednesday, Nov. 8, through Thursday, Nov. 16.
