Multiple events keep our Balladeers busy in February!

Benefits & HR

The Balladeers had a big month in February, with multiple events, including an art reception at East Tennessee State University’s Reece Museum for the artwork the Balladeers created back in November!

The Balladeer program, a free benefit for Ballad Health employees, is intended to strengthen family bonds and relationships among our Ballad Health family. Activities include visits to area attractions, picnics in local parks, holiday celebrations and activities, sports activities, discount tickets for attractions or events, treats, take-home projects and much more!

Check out the updated Balladeer Children’s Program site on the Ballad Health intranet.

If you’re interested in joining, see the information at the bottom of this article!

February events

Finance and Career Readiness Classes for teens

  • Two classes, in Kingsport and Johnson City, were held, with about 80 people in attendance. The Balladeers partnered with Lincoln Financial Group and some team members from HR’s recruitment team to teach these classes, which covered topics like budgeting, wants vs. needs, interview tips, resume building, career searching and more!
  • Families who attended were provided dinner.
  • Big thank-you to the following for their help: Taft Simmons, Heath Hill, Kevin Smith, and Kevin Howard and the team at Lincoln Financial.

Storytelling event

  • The event at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough drew more than 100 people as families heard stories, took a walk on the Storybook Trail and got to make some storytelling-related crafts.
  • Everyone was provided a free book, courtesy of ETSU Pediatrics in partnership with Niswonger Children’s Hospital. And everyone left with a treat bag!
  • Big thanks to the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild for providing the tellers and volunteers for this event!

Reece Museum Reception

  • Artwork by the Balladeer Children’s Program was displayed at ETSU’s Reece Museum from Dec. 11 through Feb. 17. “Beautiful Horizons: A Balladeer Children’s Program Exhibit” featured landscape artwork done by 135 Balladeer members at a painting party in November, led by local artist and exhibit coordinator Spenser Brenner.
  • An exhibit reception at Reese Museum was held Feb. 17 and was attended by 170 people from the Balladeers program. WJHL attended and did a news story on the event.
  • Refreshments were provided for everyone who attended. Families could also tour the rest of the Reece Museum while they were there.
