Benefits update: Open enrollment coming up in mid-May

Open enrollment for Ballad Health benefits will take place in mid-May across the system. Be on the lookout for more details as the date draws closer. The new benefits package you select during open enrollment will take effect on July 1, 2018, the start of our next fiscal year. We’ve already announced that Lincoln Financial will be the retirement plan provider for Ballad Health starting July 1, and you’ll receive more information in the coming weeks about what else our new benefits package will have to offer. If you have HR or benefits questions, contact HR4U at HR4U@balladhealth.org or 423-431-HR4U (4748).

Choice of Lincoln Financial as Ballad Health’s retirement plan provider means direct savings to team members

Dear team members: You’ve been hearing for many months about the benefits of our merger into Ballad Health, and today I’m excited to let you know about a benefit our team members are going to feel directly. We’ve selected our Ballad Health retirement plan provider – Lincoln Financial Group, effective July 1, 2018 – and this choice will result in a savings to our team members of more than $700,000 a year in recordkeeping and administrative fees. That means more of the money you contribute each paycheck to your retirement plan will go directly into your retirement savings, and less of it will be spent on administrative fees. This will be reflected in your quarterly statements once we make the transition on July 1. Neither Wellmont nor Mountain States was able to obtain such favorable administrative fees alone, but together as Ballad Health, we can. We’re pleased that this synergy can directly benefit t eam…

A message from our VP of HR: Here’s what we’re working on in human resources

Our Ballad Health merger has taken place and we’re moving forward as one system – but the transition is far from complete. There’s still a lot of work going on behind the scenes to fully bring us together, including in human resources. We’ve got an HR integration team in place giving careful consideration to an array of things, from pay scales and benefit packages to PTO and service recognition. It’s a complicated process but the team is working hard on putting it all together for us, and as decisions are made, we’ll communicate them to our team members. Look for many of these things to take effect on July 1, 2018, the start of the new fiscal year. We recognize it’s a time of uncertainty for everyone, so we’ll be as transparent as possible during this process and make sure Ballad Health team members are kept up-to-date as details are finalized. Here’s a list of…

Important note regarding our Ballad Health insurance and in-network providers

As Ballad Health, we’ve officially merged from two health systems into one. But there are still aspects of our merger that will take a while to implement, including our health insurance plans. It’s important to note that, until July 1, 2018, our in-network health insurance provider list has not changed yet. Providers who were out-of-network for you before the merger remain out-of-network for now. In this regard, we’re still operating on two different benefits systems for the next few months. Former Wellmont team members don’t yet have in-network access to Mountain States providers and vice versa. Creating a comprehensive benefits and health insurance package is one of the biggest things we’re working on, and after July 1, 2018, we should have a plan that gives all benefit-eligible Ballad Health team members in-network coverage at all Ballad Health facilities. We’ll have more information for you as details are finalized. In the meantime, if you’ve got questions, please…
