Team Member Kudos

“He truly has a heart of gold. He’ll sit out in the lobby and speak to everyone that’s going or coming… and give them a smile.”

We’re talking about Charlie Castle, our beloved volunteer, for achieving an astounding milestone — surpassing 24,000 volunteer hours at Bristol Regional Medical Center! We are very proud of Charlie.

Charlie Castle, 92, was honored last week with a celebration of his decades-long service.

His decades-long commitment and mission to serve the community has impacted the lives of countless patients, families and team members. At 92 years old, he remains as dedicated as ever to being a friend to everyone he meets.

Charlie began volunteering after his own personal experience at the facility. As one of the first open-heart surgery patients in the region, he became committed to comforting other patients and their families at the same hospital that took such great care of him. His journey to impact the daily lives of others began shortly after his recovery.

Over the years, Charlie has become a cherished figure at Bristol Regional Medical Center and has served in a wide variety of capacities – even once serving as president of the auxiliary.

You’ll frequently find Charlie making rounds with the hospitality cart or lending a hand by always stocking the linen closet. But no matter where he is, everyone’s day becomes a bit brighter when he’s around.

Charlie was honored with a celebration last week at the hospital. It is our honor to serve alongside him. His servant’s heart and youthful spirit encourages us all to continue the great work. We thank him for his remarkable service that will inspire for years to come.

Congratulations, Charlie!
