Our Balladeer Children’s Program in May: Dollywood Day and a Decades Dance!

Benefits & HR

The Balladeer Children’s Program had another amazing month, with two events in May that were big hits!

The program, a free benefit for Ballad Health employees, is intended to strengthen family bonds and relationships among our Ballad Health family. Activities include visits to area attractions, picnics in local parks, holiday celebrations and activities, sports activities, discount tickets for attractions or events, treats, take-home projects and much more!

Check out what our Balladeers have been up to lately, and if you’re interested in joining, see the information at the bottom of this article!

May events

  • Balladeer Decades Dance – The free event at the Civic Auditorium in Kingsport on May 13 drew about 150 people for dancing, food, a DJ, a photo booth, crafts and some Singo (musical Bingo). Families got to dress up in their favorite outfits from the past (any decade they wanted). Winners of Singo were given family packs of tickets to one of the following businesses: Wetlands Water Park, Gatlinburg Smokies baseball, Ripley’s Aquarium and Wonderworks. One family even drove more than two hours one way just to be there – and then stayed to help clean up afterward!
  • Family Dollywood Day – The Balladeers held the second annual Family Dollywood Day on May 20, with families receiving a complimentary ticket for each Balladeer child and a $10 meal voucher to any restaurant or food stand inside Dollywood. Almost 500 children – and more than 1,000 people in total, including parents, family members and friends – attended. Even with the rain, many families stayed and enjoyed the day, with shorter lines for rides, and could have redeemed their ticket for a rain check ticket, good for any day the rest of the 2023 season.
  • Graduate gifts – To honor our high school graduates this year, the Balladeer program sent them a special gift in the mail. We wish them the best of luck on whatever journey they embark upon next! NOTE TO BALLADEER PARENTS: If you had a senior who graduated and you did not receive one of these gifts, please send an email to Annie Davis (annie.davis@balladhealth.org) and one will be mailed.
