Hawkins County Memorial Hospital: 60 years of service to the community … and counting!

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. – On Dec. 16, Ballad Health celebrated a huge milestone in the history of Hawkins County Memorial Hospital – the facility’s 60th anniversary!

In 1961, the hospital first opened its doors to the Rogersville community. For six decades, Hawkins County Memorial hospital has provided our friends, neighbors and families with high-quality care.

The team members at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital give their all to ensure our patients receive the care they deserve. They take pride in their work by committing each day to providing safe, compassionate and consistent quality care. This is evidenced by the many recognitions the hospital has received.

  • For three consecutive years, Hawkins County Memorial earned national recognition as an IBM Watson Health Top 100 Hospital and as a top 100 rural hospital by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, signifying that the care given at Hawkins County is some of the best in the nation.
  • The hospital has also received many other honors in recent years, including being ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction in overall hospital care by CareChex.
  • Hawkins County Memorial Hospital received 4 out of a maximum of 5 stars in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating System.

For Linda Williams, going to work every day to Hawkins County Memorial Hospital has felt more like going to her second home. She began her 47-year career at the hospital as a licensed practical nurse when she was 18 years old, eventually becoming a registered nurse.

Linda retired in October, and she’ll never forget the special bond she has with her coworkers and her patients. Throughout her career, Linda says she feels blessed to have a special bond with every patient that working at Hawkins County Memorial allowed her to form with each of her patients.

“Hawkins County Memorial Hospital is like a big family,” she says. “It was my home for many, many years.”
