Cindy Verzi

2. What’s your role within Ballad Health?

Chief nursing officer at Sycamore Shoals Hospital

3. Where are you from?

Born in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in Bristol, Virginia.

4. Education and professional background:

BSN and MSN at East Tennessee State University

5. Tell us about your family:

I married my high school sweetheart and we’ve been together for 36 years. We have two grown sons.

6. Tell us about your pets:

Bichon named Samuel. He was a gift when I graduated from graduate school. He is awesome!

7. What’s your favorite food?

Fruit pizza

8. What’s your favorite movie or TV show?

“Moonstruck”

9. What do you usually do on the weekend?

Spend time with family.

10. What’s one thing most people at work might not know about you?

I operated a skid loader while in Las Vegas.

11. What inspires you to work in healthcare?

I am proud to serve patients and impact their lives at their most vulnerable moments. I believe it is my responsibility to remove barriers for frontline caregivers so they can provide quality and evidence-based care with empathy and compassion. I choose to work for Ballad Health and am excited (and maybe a little nervous, as well) about what the future holds.

12. What’s the most moving moment you’ve ever witnessed while working in healthcare?

Supporting families and significant others during end-of-life.
