Introducing our Servant’s Heart Award winners: Lisa Wilson

Team member profile

We’re putting the spotlight on our winners of the Scott and Nikki Niswonger Servant’s Heart Award, Ballad Health’s highest award. It was created to honor team members, physicians and volunteers who display the heart of a servant by going above and beyond the normal call of duty in helping others at work and in the community.

The award was named in honor of Scott and Nikki Niswonger. Scott is a Greeneville businessman and philanthropist who is the chief benefactor of the Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, and a member of the Ballad Health board of directors. The Niswongers have a long history of serving others throughout the region, with a strong focus on education highlighted by the creation of The Niswonger Foundation.

Lisa Wilson

Lisa Wilson is an instrumental leader within the Ballad Health IT department, having worked in the organization for 37 years, starting with legacy Mountain States Health Alliance. She has been an IT project manager for more than 10 years and has worked on a number of transformative programs, successfully implementing numerous IT clinical projects to improve patient and team member satisfaction. We are excited to recognize her as a 2022 Servant’s Heart Award recipient!

Lisa Wilson

Lisa oversaw the first electronic health record system for legacy Mountain States, which added a layer of patient safety to the whole system. She helped introduce computerized physician order entry, and she led “Appropriate Use” implementation, which focused on reducing the amount of radiation patients are exposed to across their lifetimes – both crucial programs to increase patient safety. She also assisted with the implementation of Epic as Ballad Health’s systemwide electronic health record system in 2020 – a huge step for the health system.

Lisa always manages to provide excellent service and make everyone she works with feel like a priority. She sees each technology implementation as an opportunity to improve someone’s day. Lisa is a caring, nurturing soul, committed to her church, her community, her family and everyone she encounters at Ballad Health. She always goes the extra mile to make a project successful, no matter how small, and she works to promote a calm, steady, productive environment.

She serves as an advocate for patients and clinical customers and works tirelessly to make patients’ experiences with Ballad Health better. Lisa routinely demonstrates the heart of a servant through her contributions to IT and through her humble dedication to her work and her family!
