MARION, Va. – Team members and the auxiliary at Smyth County Community Hospital on Monday donated funds to give 3,000 books to the students of Smyth County in an effort to bridge the “summer slide” and promote reading at home, especially during the summer months, and encourage participation in our B.E.A.R. Buddies Program that matches an adult reading mentor with an elementary student.
Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine and his wife Laura visited Marion Elementary School, along with James Tyler, CEO of Smyth County Community Hospital, and several members of the hospital leadership team, to read to classes and give away new books to each student in attendance.
Check out the TV news coverage of the event from WCYB.
